Buying a Cheap Engagement Ring

urchasing an engagement ring can be a scary process and one that you may fear even more if you do not have a large budget to work with. Fortunately, not all engagement rings are expensive, and you can get a beautiful one on a budget.

Below, we will discuss some of the ways you purchase an engagement ring for your loved one without breaking the bank.

Set Yourself a Budget

The biggest most important thing you will need to do BEFORE you even look at an engagement ring is set a budget for yourself. You should work out how much you can comfortably spend on a ring without going into debt or having to skip paying a bill to purchase it.

Once you have a budget in mind, write it down. As you start to look at rings, do not look at ones that are above your budget, as this will just set you up to spend more than what you have available.

Don’t Get Caught Up in the Clarity

You have likely heard the word “clarity” when talking about diamond rings. The clarity of the diamond refers to the imperfections that are present. Now, with that said, the better the clarity, the pricier the ring.

The clarity ranking system varies from flawless to inclusions. The imperfections that are being referred to on this clarity scale are not noticeable to the eye except in the inclusions rating. Besides flawless, imperfections in the diamond can only be seen via microscope and via the naked eye for inclusions.

Therefore, you can save yourself quite a bit of money by choosing an engagement ring that is not in the flawless or internally flawless category.

Choose the Right Metal

The metal used to house the diamonds is just as important as the diamond but depending on what type of metal you choose, you may pay a lot of money, or you may not get the best quality.

For example, a 14k gold ring is going to cost less and be stronger than an 18k gold ring. However, an 18k gold ring will shine brighter. Similar is true for white gold vs. platinum. You should avoid options such as gold over silver or silver, as they tend to wear quickly and start to look like a cheaper metal on the finger.
